Compact & Warm — Andheri Apartment

About this project

A compact Andheri living room that gets its character from wall treatment rather than floor area. A painted dado rail and panel moulding runs the lower wall, with concealed cove lighting washing the upper wall above — a pairing that gives a small room a defined horizon line and makes the ceiling read as higher than it is.

The furniture is scaled to the space: a forest-green sofa in an L-return, a nest of slim black metal-and-glass tables that can be pulled apart when more surface is needed, and a cane-backed accent chair. Engineered oak-toned flooring and full-height sheer curtains against a large window keep the light soft.

Accents are warm and few — a brass dome table lamp, a pair of framed geometric prints in black, white and burnt orange, and a dark storage unit in the foreground. It is a straightforward brief handled carefully: in a flat this size, the difference between cramped and comfortable is almost entirely furniture scale and lighting.

Design style: Warm modern — green upholstery, brass accents and classical wall panelling at apartment scale
